Reading Diary Post B: Indian Stories

The Golden Goose
  • A goose lived by a poor mother and her 2 daughters
  • The goose decided to give the family its feathers so they could sell them to make money
  • The mother was greedy and grabbed the goose and plucked it of all its feathers
  • The feathers were plucked would turn white being valueless.
  • The goose never returned
The Stupid Monkeys
  • The king gave his kingdom the day off however, the gardener did not get the day off
  • A tribe of monkeys lived in the garden and the gardener wanted them to water the trees
  • The monkeys agreed to do the job
  • To see how much water to give the trees, they pulled them up to look at their roots
  • This killed all the trees
The Cunning Wolf
  • A town went on holiday in the woods but ate all the meat before dinner.
  • They decided to go hunting to have a bbq
  • The man took a club to the river and tried to club the king of wolves
  • The man went back empty handed
The Woodpecker and the Lion
  • The Lion got a bone stuck in his teeth
  • The lion asked the woodpecker to climb in his mouth to get the bone out
  • The woodpecker stuck a stick in the lion's mouth so the lion could not eat him
  • The woodpecker helped the lion and then the lion requested that the woodpecker do him a favor
  • The lion said he didn't eat the woodpecker and that was enough for the woodpecker to do him a favor

The Otters and the Wolf
  • 2 wolves went to the river to eat fish when they saw 2 otters chasing after a great fish
  • The otters caught the fish but fought over who got the half with the head
  • The wolf stole the fish from the otters
How the Monkey Saved His Troops
  • The monkeys would collect the mangos off a the tree
  • The fishermen would catch the mangos in their nets
  • The king liked the mangos
  • The king went to the mango tree and wanted to shoot the monkeys to eat them
  • The chief monkey saved his troops by allowing them to run across a branch and swing to the other bank.
  • The king spared his life for taking care of his group
The Hawks and Their Friends
  • On the north shore of a lake lived a lion, a kingfisher on eastern shore, and a turtle on the southern shore
  • The hawks decided to make friends with the animals on the other shores
  • Two hunters went to the lake but found nothing
  • The fire they created woke up the baby hawks and they intended on eating them
  • The hawks asked the turtle for help but the hunters tried to eat him
  • The lion came to the hawks rescue and saved the day.
